Living the American dream

PIQUA — Finding a job that you love can be a diamond in the rough; as for local Piqua resident Jeffery Frazier, he created a job he loves and is living the American dream.

Frazier is the man behind American Mobile Detail, LLC, being two months old since its establishment. He provides automotive detailing for residents, including but not limited to exterior hand washing, buff, polish, and interior cleansing.

The American Mobile Detail story started five years ago when Frazier moved to Cleveland to attend an automotive school. He completed some schooling, but thought perhaps the automotive business wasn’t for him. He tried his hand in the restaurant business when he coincidently found the owner of the restaurant Frazier worked at did automotive detailing on the side.

“I learned a lot in Cleveland,” Frazier said, and learned a lot of entrepreneur skills from his mentor.

Frazier eventually moved back to Piqua to work at a place he worked before moving to Cleveland and tried doing detailing part-time, but realized it wasn’t enough to grow his business.

“I needed to do it 100 percent,” Frazier said. “I was able to quit and follow my dream. I’ve always had a passion since I was little.”

Frazier would help his father do detail work in his youth. “I’ve been (detailing) most of my life and it comes natural to me.”

It is not just the work that he does, but the people Frazier does the work for that is part of his passion as well.

“(Customers) are not just a face or car, you get to know them a little bit,” Frazier said as a perk for his business being mobile.

Frazier’s current reoccurring customers are the U.S. Navy in Piqua and Dayton. He said his goal within 5-7 years is to sell his mobile detailing business idea and franchise it around the country. He would like to help others who share his same passion get their own business going, providing the tools and knowledge they need to be successful.

Frazier is currently the only one working for his business.

“I’m not a fly by guy, I’m really taking this seriously,” Frazier said. “This is my livelihood and I want to do everything right. I make what I make because of me.”
