MIAMI COUNTY — As of press time Wednesday night, the race for 5th District in Ohio’s State Senate between Republican Stephen A. Huffman of Tipp City and Democratic candidate Paul Bradley of Dayton was too close to call.

Participating precincts reported that Huffman had received 53.28 percent of the vote, pulling slightly ahead of Bradley. Huffman had received 54,977 votes and Bradley had received 48,203, according to unofficial results at press time.

Huffman is currently serving his second term in the Ohio House of Representatives, representing the 80th district, which is composed of Miami County and parts of Darke County.

Before serving in the Ohio House, Huffman served as the Miami County coroner and an emergency physician under the board of directors at Premier Health Care Services.

Bradley currently serves as a board member for the Miami Valley Fair Housing Center, the Dayton Human Relations Council, and the City of Dayton Plan Board. He is also the director of Government Relations and Advancement at Antioch University.
