Morton opens season with eighth-place finish

On Saturday night Josh Morton of R&J Motorsports traveled to Lawrenceburg Speedway to kick off their 2017 season. Morton would start seventh in his heat race and finish third to secure the 11th starting position in the A main feature.

In the feature Josh rolled his new Elite chassis sponsored by Lillicrap Timber and Mulch, K B Machine & Tool, Nick’s Plating, Brittany’s Cakes, R&J Properties, Bushing Automotive, Purk Automotive, Brownlee Wray & Associates to an eighth place finish.

“Very happy with this brand new car and motor setup,” Morton said after the race. “Motor ran great tonight and excited to see whats in store this year.”

Morton is back in action today at either Lawrenceburg Speedway or Montpelier Speedway.

Leagues start

next week

Industrial League play at Echo Hills Golf Course will begin on April 12 and 13.

Bot the Wednesday and Thursday leagues will have a 6 p.m. shotgun start.

Both leagues are full and teams need to come in and play their $125 fee before April 12.

Golfer need to pay their GHIN fee of $35 before league play begins.

Weekday memberships are available once again so please come in before league and purchase your $99 membership.

Echo ladies

to meet soon

All area lady golfers are invited to join Piqua’s Echo Hills Golf Course Ladies Golf League. The nine hole league meets on Tuesday mornings and welcomes ladies of all handicaps. An Echo Hills membership is not required.

An organizational meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m., April 25 at the Echo Hills Golf Course clubhouse. Come and meet the golfers and explore the possibilities for some fun summer golfing.
