Piqua wrestlers drop match; Versailles advances in D-III

HILLIARD — Piqua found the going tough in the State Team Duals tournament, losing to Hilliard Davidsion Wednesday 63-15.

Tristan Hostetter (126) and Jake Hetzler (285) won by pin for Piqua, while Nick Baker (120) won by decision.

Losing by decision for Piqua was Andrew Bolin (138).

Losing by pin were Sam Herndon (113), Jimmy Perry (132), Daniel Powis (145) and Brennan Hicks (152).

Piqua also forfeited six weight classes.


Tigers get

two wins

VERSAILLES — Versailles will host the regional State Team Duals tournamnet next week after cruising to two wins Wednesday night.

Versailles will wrestle Covington in the opening round next Wednesday.

Versailles defeated Milton-Union 66-18 and Dixie 55-13 to advance.

Against Milton-Union, Marcus Marshal (113), Tanner Bey (138), Nathan Henry (152), Corey Dieringer (160), Jonathan Moorman (170), Jerome Bey (182) and Kyle Gigandet (195).

Winning by forfeit were Jacob Poling (106), Preston Platfoot (120), Brett Gigandet (220) and Jeffrey Ware (285).

Losing by pin were Lane Feltz (126), Kyle Wuebker (132) and Tyler Gigandet (145).

Against Dixie, winning by pin were Platfoot, Tanner Bey and Jerome Bey.

Winning by major decision was Henry, while winning by decision were Marshal, Wuebker and Dieringer.

Winning by forfeit were Feltz, Moorman, Kyle Gigandet and Brett Gigandet.

Losing by decision was Poling, while Sean Besecker (145) lost by major decision and Ware lost by pin.
