MIDDLETOWN — The Lehman Catholic boys soccer team opened sectional tournament play with a 2-1 win over Middletown Madison Monday.

Lehman will play at West Liberty-Salem at 7 p.m. Monday.

Elijah Jock had both Lehman goals.

In the first half, he scored with 16 minutes to go on an assist from goalie Will Voisard on a long kick to give Lehman a 1-0 lead

Madison tied it on a header off a corner late in the first half.

Jock scored the game-winner with eight minutes remaining.

Newton boys

PLEASANT HILL — The Newton boys soccer team opened D-III sectional tournament play with a 3-0 win over Catholic Central Monday.

Newton will play at Waynesville at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Dillon Koble had a goal and an assist for Newton.

Cameron Stine and Tristan Stewart both had goals, while Alex Hild had two assists.

East boys

handle Stivers

CASSTOWN — The Miami East boys soccer team did whatever it wanted Monday night against Stivers, scoring at will and not letting up in a 16-0 victory in the first round of the Division III sectional tournament.

Miami East travels to Botkins Thursday for a 5 p.m. start.
