AMES, Iowa — Former Piqua resident Maddie Wise continues to play well in her freshman season at Iowa State.

After surviving an overtime win three nights ago over Kansas, the Cyclones saw their Big 12 record fall to 1-1 with a 74-69 loss to Oklahoma on New Year’s Eve.

After leading by one at the first quarter, Iowa State trailed Oklahoma by nine at half and after the third quarter. The final quarter saw Wise and her mates cut to lead to as little as three points, but they could not get over the hump.

Wise played well (and 36 minutes) hitting six for 10 (including three 3-pointers) and scoring 15 points; pulling down four rebounds; and blocking two shots. She is now averaging an even 10 points in Big 12 action.

The Cyclones return to action tonight at sixth-ranked Baylor before a game on Saturday at ninth-ranked West Virginia.
