The Piqua volleyball team lost 25-19, 25-19, 25-16 to Springboro Thursday.

Kyla Blankenship, Ashley Brading, and Ashley Ho all had five kills each.

Cassidy Sullenberger had 20 assists and two aces and Kelsey Magoteaux led the defense with 10 digs.

The Lady Indians play at West Carrollton Tuesday in GWOC crossover action.

COVINGTON — The Covington volleyball team dropped to 0-3, losing to unbeaten Fairlawn 25-10, 25-17, 25-6.

Breanna Kimmel had four kills, while Ashley Cecil led the defense with 12 digs.

The Covington JV lost to Fairlawn 25-16, 25-19, while the Covington freshman lost to Tippecanoe 25-16, 25-16.

Covington will host Anna on Monday in JV/varsity match, while all three teams will play at New Bremen Tuesday.

ARCANUM — The Houston Lady Wildcats evened their record on the year at 1-1 by winning in four at Arcanum Thursday night.

The scores were 25-22, 25-17, 17-25, 25-19.

Jenna Winner had 13 kills to lead the Lady Wildcats, and Jenna Mounts and Sarah Monnier added seven kills each.

Winner led the defense with 15 digs, Mounts had 10 and Katherine Everett and Jenna Green both added nine.

Everett, Allie Voisard, Winner and Monnier all served two aces each, and Everett and Mounts both had six blocks.

Lady Raiders

get past Roaders

RUSSIA — The Russia girls went to 3-0 on the season with a tough 3-0 win over visiting Bradford Thursday.

The Lady Raiders won 25-22, 25-22, 25-21.

For the Lady Raiders, Rachel Heuing had eight kills, Cassie Pleiman 13 digs, Whitney Pleiman 11 digs, Katie Swartz 13 assists, Christina Gaerke two solo blocks, and Swartz and Chloe Sherman three aces each.

Russia also won the JV game 25-10, 15-18.

SIDNEY — Lehman registered an easy win over Upper Scioto Valley in Northwest Central Conference boys golf play at Shelby Oaks Thursday, 168-196.

Tyler Scott of Lehman was the medalist with a 38, Adam Vanderhorst shot a 41, Tyler Lachey 43 and Zack Scott 46.

Jamison goes

low for Newton

TIPP CITY — Brock Jamison found Cliffside Golf Course to his liking Tuesday.

The Newton senior shot 32 to take medalist honors in a 139-155 loss to Bethel in CCC action.

Other Newton scores were Chet Jamison 39, Wade Ferrell 41 and Drew Thiesing 43.

East goes to

6-0 in CCC

GREENVILLE — The Miami East boys golf team overcame a tough back nine at Turtle Creek Golf Course to defeat Franklin Monroe 188-204 and go to 6-0 in the CCC.

Kley Karadak was medalist with a 40 for Miami East and Scot Kirby overcame a nine to shoot 45.

Other Viking scores were Walker Henley 51, Devyn Carson 52 and Ryan Haney 56.

Buccs top


The Covington boys golf team got a 180-210 win over Mississinawa Valley in CCC action at Echo Hills Thursday.

Levi Winn was medalist for the Buccs with 37.

Other Covington scores included Andrew Slusher 42, James Grilliot 48, Braden Miller 53, Ryan Gengler 55 and Hunter Alexander 64.

Houston boys

lost to Fairlawn

SIDNEY — Fairlawn won over Houston in a Shelby County Athletic League match at Shelby Oaks, 174-195.

For Houston, Cameron Via and Zack McKee had 48s, Tristan Stangel 49 and Nick Shoemaker 50.

Tigers beat

Marion Local

WEBSTER — The Versailles boys golf team defeated Marion Local 174-206 in MAC action.

Kyle Cotner was medalist with 41.

Other Versailles scores were Jacob Watren 42, Griffen Riegle 43, Nicholas Litten Stonebraker 48, Michael Hemmelgarn 50 and Conner Custenborder 51.

The Versailles JVs lost 247-248.

Tiger scores were Alec Ahrens 56, Alex Keiser 58, Austin Pleiman 64 and Brennan Gaier 70.


Newton edges

Troy Christian

TROY — The Newton boys soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season Thursday, winning a back-and-forth defensive battle against host Troy Christian 2-1.

Noah Williams gave the Indians the lead on an assist from Nick Honeycutt, but the Eagles tied things up at 1-1 on an unassisted goal by Jon Slone. Honeycutt scored an unassisted goal of his own, though, and the Newton defense made it stand up.

Newton is back in action Saturday at home against Indian Lake.

WEST MILTON — The Piqua girls soccer team lost to Milton-Union 4-2 Thursday.
