Kristen Rappold pitched a four-hitter, striking out seven, walking one and hitting a batter.

Lehman had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but Kacie Tackett slugged a two-run homer in the bottom of the inning to give Newton the lead for good.

Tackett was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, while Erin Norman was 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Lehman pitcher Hailey Wick kept her team in the game with some strong pitching of her own.

“Hailey pitched a great game,” said Booth. “The whole team played great and I was really proud of them. It was a fun game to coach, and both teams played well.”

Sidney Chapman had two of Lehman’s four hits.
