The 27th Annual Dick Minnich Charity Golf Classic was held last Tuesday, and once again, it was a tremendous success. The generosity of 34 sponsors and 22 teams helped the tournament raise $4,500 for the youth of the Covington community. That brings the Dick Minnich’s 27 year total to $106,500 raised for various organizations, including the Covington Schools Scholarship Fund. We couldn’t have asked for a better day. The weather was great, we have a number of people who mark this on their calendars and play every year, and it was fun to see how many first timers we had playing this year. The winning team this year was the team of Craig Idle, Arlen Idle, Dave Tobias, and Martin Leistner. The raffle winner of the set of clubs valued at approximately $1,000 was Caleb Lavey. A person who was playing in the Minnich for the first time came up to me afterwards and said this is one of the best if not the best scramble he’s ever played in, and that he was definitely coming back next year. As long as we continue to raise money and receive compliments like that, the Dick Minnich Classic will live on for many more years to come.
