The Edison State men’s and women’s basketball teams swept Southern State Tuesday.
The men, 16-11, won 86-63.
Edison State led by six at halftime and pulled away in the second half.
“Southern State can be a very tough opponent when they are hitting the way they did this first half,” Edison State coach Rick Hickman said.
Dae’Shawn Jackson scored 22 points to lead a balanced attack.
Zach Ledbetter added 15 points, Hadith Tiggs netted 14, Romello Yaqub tallied 13 points and Nick Thompson added 12 points.
Edison women, 19-8, got a huge game from Carly Buzzard in an 86-61 victory.
The Lady Chargers jumped out to a 22-8 first quarter lead and never looked back.
Buzzard was 13 of 16 from the floor and 2-for-2 from the line in scoring 28 points, while pulling down 10 rebounds.
Riley Culver filled out the stat sheet with 17 points, nine rebounds, five assists, two steals and three blocks; while Sydney Miller had 13 points and dished out four assists.
Brooke Hickey scored 12 points off the bench and Jessie Crowell grabbed six rebounds.
