Piqua golf tohold meeting

There will be a mandatory meeting on Sunday July 26, at 7 p.m. for all boys who plan to try out for the Piqua High School golf teams. A parent and the athlete must attend to receive important information. The meeting will take place at the Echo Hills picnic shelter between holes 17 and 18. The season begins Aug. 3.

Physicals packets are due to the PHS Athletic office by Friday July 31. For more information, you may contact varsity coach Josh Burns at 473-5445.

Girls tennis

There will be an informational meeting for anyone interested in playing girls tennis for Piqua High School this fall.

The meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. July 20 in the PHS CPA.

Piqua girls

golf scramble

The annual golf scramble benefiting the Piqua girls basketball team is scheduled for Saturday at Echo Hills Golf Course with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.

Four-person teams are still being assembled. $50 provides a round of golf, a fantastic lunch, and eligibility for a variety of door prizes, with all the proceeds benefitting the PHS girls basketball program.

Pack The Path

set for Lock 9

Cindy Pearson and Positively Promoting Piqua will hold the fourth annual Pack The Path 5K walk-run at Lock 9 Park on Saturday.

It will begin at 9 a.m. and entry fee is one canned good, with the proceeds benefitting the Bethany Center.

Bicycles are welcome as well.

The event will begin at Lock Nine and return to Lock Nine via the path that goes south. The goal is to raise awareness of heart healthy exercise and great nutrition. Please bring canned goods to support the Bethany Center’s mission to provide four meals per week to those in need. Wilma and her team of volunteers do an amazing job of providing for our community. Come out to the walk and enjoy the beauty of our bike path.

hold tryouts

Troy Post 43 Baseball and it’s younger teams are holding try outs for candidates 15 to 18 year olds for 2016.

The tryouts will be held at the Duke Park “Legion Field” on July 20 and 21 at 5 p.m., July 27 at 5 p.m. and Aug. 22 and 23 at 1 p.m.
