Thanks for keeping local waters clean

To the Editor:

A heart-felt “thank you” to the volunteers that helped me conduct the 15th Annual Clean Sweep of the Piqua Hydraulic Canal on 10/24. These POWW (Protecting Our Water Ways) volunteers gathered about 40 pounds of trash out of our local waters.

A special thanks to the City of Piqua street department for disposing of this trash for us.

Over the last 15 years, the amount of trash, found, has gone down dramatically and we should all take pride in that. We can still do better by using trash cans and following the three R’s: reduce, recycle and re-purpose.

Thanks to all for keeping these local waters clean for all to enjoy.
