To The Editor:
I have been a farmer in Miami County for over 40 years. During that time I have seen a great many changes, both to the landscape of Miami County and to the way I farm. In most cases farm equipment has gotten larger and heavier in order to become more efficient in meeting the production needs of our great country and the world.
One of the things that has helped the farmer keep pace is Miami County’s progressive bridge replacement program. Good bridges allow for more direct routes for everyone, but especially for me and my fellow farmers who enjoy being able to take the most direct routes when transporting our produce to market or moving machinery. Shorter travel times mean greater efficiency for me and less time that I spend on the roadway causing slow downs for anyone who happens to be traveling the same route as me.
Add to all this that it is a renewal and will not raise my taxes; I believe that the passage of the Miami County Bridge Levy on November 3, 2015 is good for us all.
