To the Editor:
My name is Earl Sever and I was born and raised in Piqua. I attended Washington Township/Piqua City Schools in Piqua and graduated from Piqua Central High School in 1965.
The Piqua City Schools renewal levy that is on the ballot this coming Nov. 7 is important for passage for several reasons:
1. Passage of this renewal levy will continue to maintain current funding to support student programs and opportunities
2. Passage of this renewal levy will NOT require any increase in taxes (ZERO increase) to the residents of Piqua.
3. Passage of this renewal levy means that every dollar of this $2.1 million dollars stays in the Piqua school district to fund day-to-day operations.
This levy was originally passed by the residents of Piqua in 2003. In 2008 and 2013, the residents of Piqua supported the levy again with no increases. Now we need to support this ZERO increase levy being voted on this Nov. 7 for five years beginning in 2018.
We need each and every one of you to get out and VOTE for this very important renewal levy.
