Thanks for supporting Duck Drop

To the Editor:

On behalf of Mainstreet Piqua, I would like to thank the Piqua community for their tremendous support of our first-annual Rockin’ River Duck Drop. We were overwhelmed by the support we received from not only our sponsors and prize donors but also by the businesses and citizens of our community who adopted all 2,000 ducks we had to offer. We are sincerely humbled by your generosity.

Doing a first-ever event is always a challenge, so we want to thank our sponsors. The Quackmaster sponsor for the Rockin’ River Duck Drop is Piqua Guitar. Unity National Bank was the Top Duck Sponsor and darling duck sponsors included Soak ‘n Suds Car Wash, Ticon Paving, PSC Crane and Rigging and the Miami Valley Centre Mall. Our prize sponsors were Piqua Guitar, Lillicrap Mulch and Timber Sales, Barclay’s Men’s-Women’s Clothier and Town and Country Furniture.

We appreciated the duck-wrangling volunteers from POWW (Protect Our Water-Ways) who made sure that every single duck was picked up at the conclusion of the event and special thanks goes to the City of Piqua’s Bob Graeser, who helped design and construct the finish line/containment area. Bob’s attention to detail and innovative thinking was a huge help to the planning committee.

We would also like to thank the Rockin’ River Duck Drop committee of Cathy Oda, Vicki Burke, Mary Teach, Anna Baumeister, Scott Miller and Debbie Stein, who worked tirelessly to make sure the duck drop was successful and profitable. Their great ideas, boundless enthusiasm and duck counting and numbering skills were invaluable.

Finally, we would like to thank the Rock Piqua! committee, who allowed us to stage our Duck Drop in conjunction with the final concert. Although the events are organized by different groups, they certainly complemented each other and the cooperation of the Rock Piqua organizing committee is sincerely appreciated. The Rockin’ River Duck Drop will prove to be a great fundraiser for Mainstreet Piqua this year and beyond. We are so thankful for everyone’s support.
