‘Tis the season in Piqua

To the Editor:

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas …”

As the familiar song lyrics tell of things around us beginning to take on the Christmas feeling with sparkling lights and beautiful decorations, we here in Piqua are extremely fortunate. Thanks to many people, businesses and organizations our downtown and surrounding area looks festive and impressive.

Thank you to Jim Roth for the beautiful trees decorated with white lights on McCulloch Square; Unity National Bank for providing the garlands, wreaths and lights for the Gazebo; Mainstreet Piqua for the many red lights and star on the huge evergreen also on McCulloch Square.

The Fort Piqua Plaza has never looked more beautiful than this year with the 25-foot tree and star atop the main portico of the entrance at the Library. The Banquet Center to the Fort Piqua Plaza is also adorned with pine roping and lit trees on either side of the entrance. Lots of sparkle in the center of our city, thanks to the many people involved.

None of this could have been accomplished without the help of the crew from the Street Department and the Power Department for our city.

If you have not had a chance to see the inside of our beautiful library, I would suggest that you take a look. It is a wonderland of lovely decorations everywhere. The staff and many volunteers have been busy for days making it look so special for this Christmas season. We have one of the most beautiful libraries in the area, if not in the state of Ohio, but during this Christmas season, it is a real standout.

It truly does look a lot like Christmas in downtown Piqua this year.
