To the Editor:
We would like to thank the Piqua area community for helping with our first Western Ohio Thrivent Community event. Our leadership team decided to pack meal kits as our first project. The team decided the 36 Skate Club would be a fun venue for our project. We were hopeful some adults would stay to help us pack up meals, in addition to the children taking advantage of the free skating and pizza. The project turned out perfectly!
Many adults were available, and when we gave out instructions for the meal kit packing, 120 kits of green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, bread, the baking pan and foil, were all assembled in about 30 minutes! The crew, who’d never worked together before, was amazing with the spirit of Christmas giving! Thank you, Piqua area, for laboring for those that are less fortunate!
We were thrilled to add 6-7 pound turkey breasts and hand out 95 of the 120 kits at the Bethany Center the following day to families selected by the Bethany Center. Thank you to the entire crew at the Bethany Center! The spirit of Christmas giving was thriving at the Bethany Center!
Thank you to the Thrivent members and all volunteers for living generously!
