PIQUA — On Nov. 12, the boys and girls Piqua High School swim and dive teams had team pictures at the Piqua YMCA to start off the season. The teams’ first meet will be on Dec. 1 at J County. Many events will be held at the first meet including backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and butterfly.

The boys and girls PHS swim and dive teams’ head coach is Kelsey Treon, along with assistant coach Michelle Berger. Treon says there has been a great turn out for the team this year. The team consists of five boys, eight girls, and five divers overall. Returning swimmers this year are seniors Maddy Fogt, Jennifer Crusey, and Haleigh Beougher. Other returning swimmers include sophomores Colin Hutton, Gabe Switzer, and Mike Switzer.

Treon said the goal for this swim season is, “to have the outcome of merging the newer swimmers and the older swimmers and closing the gap so any newer swimmers gain the skill and love the sport all in one.”
