PIQUA — With the new quarter starting, Piqua High School names Stephan Dolder as the Student of the Week for the week of Oct. 22-26. Dolder is a sophomore at PHS. He participates in the Pride of Piqua Marching Band (playing Lead Trumpet) and Boys Tennis.

Dolder was nominated by Sarah Bensman for his respect, diligence and responsibility. Bensman teaches Sign Language 1, 2 and 3 at PHS. “Stephan is always ready, prepared, and respectful. He works hard, asks questions in class and always helps others,” Bensman said. Dolder’s favorite teachers include Bensman because she never takes attitude or disrespect from anyone, as well as Carl Phlipot and Mitch Mahaney who Dolder says, “aren’t only my music teachers but they’re very relatable and helpful.”

Dolder is inspired by Ben Gunnarson and Antonio Cabrera because “they’re both amazing trumpet players who started out playing just like I did.”

Dolder hopes to maintain a 4.0 GPA by the end of his high school career, just like he did his freshman year. He has hopes of either going into the Navy or going to college at the University of Cincinnati.
