Information provided by the Miami County Sheriff’s Office:

Dec. 1

THEFT: A report of theft from an unlocked vehicle was reported in the 1300 block of Ginghamsburg Frederick road, Tipp City.

THEFT: A deputy spoke with a representative on behalf of Round Point Mortgage, in relation to a theft in the 2000 block of Broken Woods Drive, Troy. The residence was missing kitchen cabinets valued at $9,500, and a 40-gallon water heater, valued at $725.

Dec. 2

THEFT: A resident in the 8000 block of State Route 55, Ludlow Falls, reported items stolen out of his truck and camper overnight. Theft in the 100 block of Friend Street was also reported.

WARRANT: Darke County requested a check at F & P America Manufacturing for Thomas Rutter for a felony warrant out of their county. A deputy located Thomas at the listed address and confirmed the warrant. Thomas was transferred to a Darke County deputy.

THEFT: A report of possible theft of a money order was reported at the Open Arms Apostolic Church in the 4000 block of Tipp-Cowlesville Road, Monroe Twp.

Dec. 3

OVI: A deputy responded to the 4000 block of State Route 41, Covington, on a report of a reckless operation where the caller stated that there was a Honda all over the roadway. The deputy was able to locate the Honda and initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle for a traffic violation. After investigation the registered owner Jennifer Von Duhn was arrested for OVI and Marked Lanes.

BURGLARY: A report of a building break-in was reported in the 100 block of Kerr Road, Tipp City.

GUN FOUND: A back pack was found under a tree next to the sidewalk at 11 Vine St., Ludlow Falls. Inside of the bag was a loaded handgun. The deputy collected the backpack and entered all of its contents into evidence. The gun was ran through LEADS but it was not entered as stolen. There were several items in the backpack that most likely had been stolen. There were several break-ins reported in and around Ludlow Falls on Dec. 2.

Dec. 4

OVI: A deputy stopped the listed vehicle for several moving violations in the West Franklin Strdet and Hobart Drive area. The deputy made contact with the driver who was identified as the defendant Grace Hignite. After further investigatiion, Hignite was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody for OVI

Dec. 5

THEFT: A resident reported his vehicle was broken into overnight in the 1300 block of Ginghamsburg Frederick Road, Tipp City.

Dec. 6

BURGLARY: A deputy responded to a dispatch call for a burglary in progress near the 200 block of Wood Street in Piqua.

The deputy saw a red Jeep Cherokee eastbound on Garnsey and checked the license plate as it passed. It matched the suspect vehicle that left the scene.

The deputy activated emergency lights and stopped the vehicle on Garbry Road near the Paris trailer court. As the vehicle began to stop, the deputy saw the front passenger and rear passenger doors open. and noticed two subjects took off.

The deputy began chasing one subject and the Piqua officer began chasing another. The deputy advised the subject, later identified as Robert Bolin, to stop running and chased him for approximately 25 yards. The deputy caught the suspect, grabbed him, hitting a trailer and then fell to the ground. He was placed into handcuffs and escorted Bolin to the street where other Piqua officers were on scene. Bolin was handed over to Piqua Police Depafrtment without incident.

SCHOOL INCIDENT: A deputy responded to a menacing complaint at Bethel Middle School.

WARRANTS: A deputy was dispatched to a complaint of solicitors going door-to-door in the area of Shenandoah Drive and Seneca Drive, Troy.

After further investigation, three adult males were taken into custody on out-of-county warrants and incarcerated at the Miami County Incarceration Facility. A juvenile who had been with them was picked up from the scene by a family member.

One of the males, after being transferred into the custody of jail staff, was found to have syringes and pills on/in his person. He was also charged with conveyance, possession of drugs, and possession of drug abuse instruments.

ASSAULT: A deputy was dispatched to an assault that had occurred at the 800 block of Ginghamsburg Road, Monroe Township. Brian Amlin was summons into court for menacing and assault.

Dec. 7

THEFT: A theft report for a missing log splitter was reported in the 10000 block of Milton Potsdam Road, West Milton.

ASSAULT: A deputy assisted Covington Police Department for a possible assault/OVI in the area of State Route 41 and Farrington Road, Covington.

JAIL INCIDENT: A deputy responded to the Miami County Safety Building’s jail for a possible assault complaint.
