Smith member of ministry

ASHLAND — Alexander Smith of Piqua is a member of the Newman Catholic Campus Ministry at Ashland University.

Smith is majoring in business management.

He is the son of Richard and Tracy Smith of Piqua. Smith is a 2011 graduate of Lehman High School.

Heidelberg honors student-athletes

TIFFIN — A total of 143 Heidelberg University student-athletes were honored earlier this semester not for their play on the field but for their achievements in the classroom. Among the students receiving a Landess Scholar-Athlete Award were the following local/area residents:

David Brauer of Pleasant Hill, a junior Communication & Theatre Arts major (men’s cross country).

Tyler Hunter of Tipp City, a sophomore Health Sciences major (football).

Jarett Wasson of Tipp City, a sophomore Psychology and Criminal Justice major (football).

Marisa Mowery of Troy, a junior Psychology major (women’s soccer).

Roetter volunteers in Boston

BEREA — Matthew Roetter of Troy is one of 51 caring Baldwin Wallace University students who gave up 2016 spring break week to make a difference through BW’s Alternative Break service program. The program facilitated five diverse trips with student volunteers traveling to Atlanta; Boston; Kansas City, Mo.; New Orleans; Toledo, Ohio; Detroit and Chicago.

The trips were led by a BW student with a University faculty or staff adviser providing support.
