Funeral home receives designation

PIQUA — Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home has been selected as Miami County’s exclusive funeral home provider for the National Association of Remembrance Planners.

With the selection, the funeral directors and staff at Melcher-Sowers have demonstrated that they have the desire, the ability and the resources to help families tell their loved one’s life story. They are responding to the evolving expectations of what people believe funeral services should be.

“We believe that it’s our job to provide extraordinary, personalized opportunities to help families celebrate that wonderful life” said Jerry Sowers. “We hear it all the time, ‘when I go, I don’t want my grandmother’s funeral.”

They have earned the designation Professional Remembrance Planner, which sets them apart from other funeral homes. A Remembrance Gathering plays a significant role in our lives and is an essential component of the healing process. It is an event that requires guidance and thoughtful planning.

“That’s where we step in,” Sowers said. “We’re not just funeral directors.”
