Assessments set at St. Patrick

TROY — St. Patrick Catholic School will hold kindergarten assessments for the 2016-2017 school year on Tuesday, March 22 in the Parish Center, 444 E. Water St., Troy. Children must be 5 years of age on or before Sept. 30, 2016, to be eligible for kindergarten.

The assessment is the first step for enrollment in the all-day kindergarten program. Each assessment will take approximately one hour. To receive more information or to request an assessment registration packet, contact the school office at (937) 339-3705 or visit the school between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. during school days. Tours are available by appointment.

Hall of fame nominations under way

PLEASANT HILL — Nominations for the Newton School Hall of Fame are currently being accepted.

The deadline for these nominations is March 1. Forms and guidelines for nominations are available in the superintendent’s office or you may go online to get the form at the school website at

Eligible nominees would be current or former certified staff members, non-certified staff members, community members, board of education members and alumni of Newton School. Induction into the Hall of Fame will be made at the annual alumni banquet, which will be held Saturday, May 14.

Dodgeball fest set

MIAMI COUNTY —The Miami County YMCA will be holding a Dodgeball Fest at both the Piqua and Robinson branches on Monday, Feb. 15. This event will take place on President’s Day from 1-2:30 p.m. for youth in grades seventh through 12th.

Pizza will be provided to all participants after dodgeball is finished. Various games including regular dodgeball, doctor dodgeball, general ball, and war ball will all be played. Dodgeball Fest is free for members and $5 for an event guest pass for non-members.
