Chili and chips

PIQUA — Fall is here and Cyrene AME Church is inviting the public to get warm with some chili at the church on Friday, Nov. 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. or until the chili is gone.

The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children.

St. Boniface Cabbage Roll and Bread Sale

PIQUA — The Piqua Heritage Festival may be history and Oktoberfest will not be back until next fall, but your favorite breads and cabbage rolls are still available. St. Boniface Parish, Piqua, is taking orders through Nov.16 for its Oktoberfest Cabbage Rolls and Heritage Breads. The homemade, pork cabbage rolls — oven and freezer ready — can be purchased at $2.50 each or a pan of 12 for $27; both include a sauerkraut and tomato mixture.

Twenty-five different breads made from the parish’s Heritage Festival Bread Booth recipes are available, too To obtain an order form, place an order, or for more info email, log on to, or contact the parish office, located at 310 S. Downing, at (937) 773-1656.

Order Pick-Up is Saturday, Nov. 21, from noon to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 22, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Caserta Activity Center, 218 S. Downing. Proceeds from the sale benefit the parish’s Family Life Group.

Shabbat service

PIQUA — Congregation Anshe Emeth, in Piqua, will be observing Shabbat with a service on Friday, Nov. 20. The service will begin at 7:30 p.m. and be conducted by rabbinic intern Tina Sobo. An oneg will follow.

God’s Table at Westminster Presbyterian Church

PIQUA — “God’s Table”, a community wide free lunch, will be served Saturday, Nov. 21, from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church located at 325 West Ash St.

The annual Thanksgiving luncheon will be turkey, ham, dressing, mash potatoes and gravy, green beans, rolls and desserts. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy lunch.

Christmas Bazaar coming to Gettysburg Cardinal Center

GETTYSBURG — The Friends of the Cardinal Center (Gettysburg School), a 501(c)3 non-profict corporation, will host a Christmast Bazaar at the Gettysburg Cardinal Center on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Shoppers will find a wide selection of craft items, bake goods, and specialty items. There will be door prizes to win and concession available for busy shoppers.

Santa will be there to see all of the children, and the young at heart are encourage to bring their cameras and get pictures taken with Santa.

There is no charge for admittance. Handicap parking is availabe from the Auld Street side of the building.

The Cardinal Center is located at 260 E. Main St. in Gettysburg.

Covington Community Thanksgiving Dinner and Service

COVINGTON — The Covington Ministerial Association and area churches invite you to the Covington Community Thanksgiving Dinner and Service on Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Dinner will be served, free of charge between 5-6:30 p.m. The service is set to begin at 7 p.m. and will include special music by Christian recording artist Tommy Renfro.

Please plan to attend this free community event to be held at Covington Christian Church, 115 N. Pearl Street.

Dinner will be provided, free of charge, by the following: Covington Christian Church, Covington Church of the Brethren, Covington Presbyterian, Fields of Grace Worship Center, Friedens Lutheran Church, Friendship Grace Brethren, Old German Baptist – New Conference, St. John’s Lutheran Church, St. Teresa’s Catholic church and Stillwater Community Church.

Pies for sale

PIQUA — Cyrene AME Church, located at 227 W. Ash Street in Piqua, is selling made-to-order pies before Thanksgiving. Orders will be taken until Nov. 20. Delivery or pick-up will be on Nov. 24.

Options include: pumpkin, sweet potato, apple, cherry, pecan, sugar cream, peanut butter, lemon meringue, and custard.
