Cornhole fundraiser planned

PIQUA — Come out and enjoy an indoor cornhole tournament on Saturday, March 24, at the at the Miami Valley Centre Mall. Hosted by “Dancing with the Piqua Stars” team Holly Trombley and Frank Zollars, the event will raise money to benefit the Piqua Arts Council.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Enter through the food court entrance. You don’t have to participate in the tournament to enjoy that fun.

Other offerings will include a 50/50 drawing, door prizes, raffle prizes including a vacation, as well as food.

The tournament participation fee is $25 per person; non-participant fee is $10 per person.

YMCA offers indoor triathlon

TROY — The Miami County YMCA is hosting an indoor triathlon on March 24 at the Robinson Branch in Troy. The triathlon will consist of three events: swimming, cycling and walking/running.

The triathlon format will include: 15 minutes of swimming, 20 minutes on the bike and 15 minutes on a treadmill, with waves of four participants starting every 30 minutes.

Youth ages 14 and older are encouraged to participate. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each division, including: male, female, ages 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 plus.

Edison to hold State of the College

PIQUA — Edison State Community College President Dr. Doreen Larson will hold a State of the College address on Wednesday, April 4, in the Robinson Theater on the Piqua Campus. The event is held annually to inform community members and regional leaders about recent endeavors and future plans of the college.

In her address, Dr. Larson will provide an overview of highlights and accomplishments of the college, define strategic initiatives, and share future opportunities. A continental breakfast will be served from 8-8:30 a.m., with the address beginning at 8:30 a.m. and ending at 9:30 a.m.

Artwork sought for contest

BRADFORD — The New Friends of Bradford Public Library are looking for artists of all ages for the first “Art In The Stacks” event on March 29 from 6-8 p.m. Art of any type — including, but not limited to paintings, sketches, sculptures, stained glass and textiles — will be accepted at the library no later than 7 p.m Tuesday, March 27.

Judging will be held on the March 29 and prizes awarded at 7:45. The Friends group is offering cash prizes of $25 for first place, $15 for second, and $10 for third in two age divisions; toddlers through grade 8, and grade 9 through adult.
