Scouts sponsoring car show

PIQUA — Cub Scout Pack 295 is sponsoring a car show at Fountain Park from 12-4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20. There is no cost to attend.

Entry fee is $7 per vehicle. There also will be food trucks and other displays, including some very special exhibits.

Newton hosting open house

PLEASANT HILL — An open house for Newton Local School is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 21, from 5-6:30 p.m. Students, parents, grandparents, and friends are invited.

This will be an opportunity to meet the teachers as well as become acquainted with the school’s facilities. Newton’s first day of school for students is Tuesday, Aug. 22.

Elks 5K race upcoming

TROY — Please join us for the third annual Elks Care/Elks Share 5K at 10 a.m. Sept. 24, starting and ending at the Brick Shelter in Troy Community Park. The race route is along the Miami River in Troy.

Snacks, raffle, door prizes, and awards will be available immediately following the race. Medals will be awarded to first overall male and female finishers, top three male and females in each age category, and top three finishers in the wheelchair division and, the stroller division.

If you are interested in walking or running this event, please register at www.speedy-feet.com or pick up a registration form at the Elks Lodge. Entry fee is $25. Register by Sept. 10, and will receive a commemorative Race Tee Shirt, with our awesome logo on it.

Proceeds help support Needy Kids Christmas (Miami County), Veterans Programs, Elks National Foundation Youth Scholarships, United Cerebral Palsy, and Old Home Restorations.

Celebrate women’s equality

PLEASANT HILL — Join us for Women’s Equality Day on Saturday, Aug. 26, at 11 a.m. to “Celebrate Our Wonder Women” at the Oakes-Beitman Memorial Library in Pleasant Hill. This program is for children, teens and adults of all ages.

Old Tipp Cruise-In planned

TIPP CITY — Old Tippecanoe will host the 21st Annual Trans Am Nationals Cruise-In on Saturday, Aug. 26 from 5-9 p.m.

The Saturday night cruise-in is the highlight of a three-day Trans-Am Nationals event held each year in Dayton. Along with help from Trans Am Club of America, Dayton Chapter, Inc. and The Ohio Firebirds, owners of Firebirds, Formulas, Firehawks, Trans Ams, and GTA’s are urged to enter, but everyone is invited to view the entries and enjoy the fun.

The event will take place in the Old Tippecanoe Historic District in downtown Tipp City, with free admission. Registration cost for car entries is $10. Registration is at Monroe Federal Bank, 24 E. Main St., from 5-7 p.m.

The first 250 entries will receive dash plaques and trophies will be awarded. Activities until 9 p.m. include shopping, a 50/50 raffle, and a DJ providing music at Third and Main streets.
