Learn to make glass art

PIQUA — Meet with area artist Dennis Walker to create your own glass bird hand-shaped from molten glass. The class, which has limited space, will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, in Walker’s Piqua studio at 446 Weber St.

Participants will select their own colors to make a 2” x3” classic glass bird. Each student will have individualized instruction while the others observe.

Dance classes at YWCA

PIQUA — Dance instructor Kendra Melvin will be teaching two upcoming dance classes that kids can attend at the YWCA Piqua.

Melvin will introduce a freestyle hip-hop dance class to students 7 years old and up on Saturdays, from 10-10:30 a.m. for five weeks beginning April 22. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing such as ballet slippers, tights and leotards/shorts.

Students 3 years old and up will want to join in a new dance class session beginning Monday, April 24, when Melvin will help participants learn several dance types including ballet mixed with jazz and contemporary dance techniques.

Two sessions will be held on Mondays — 4:30-5 p.m. for 3-4 year olds and 5:15-5:45 p.m. for students 5 years old and up.
