Firefighters visiting library

WEST MILTON — The Milton-Union Public Library will get a special visit from the West Milton Fire Department from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 14. The firefighters will be arriving in full uniform on their truck to talk to kindergarten through fifth graders.

Firefighters will share about the fitness program and training course that firefighters have to pass in order to become a firefighter. Attendees will be able to climb into the fire truck, try on equipment and even test their own strength in a fire training drill. Can you beat the combat challenge?

WAPAKONETA — a 5K/10K “Run to the Moon” will be held July 16 at the boyhood home of Neil Armstrong in Wapakoneta.

The entry free into the race also includes a T-shirt, free entrance into the Armstrong Air and Space Museum, show your race bib and ticket for free beer at the Summer Moon Festival when you tour the museum.

‘Lettuce Cook’ progam set

TROY — The Miami County Park District will hold its Lettuce Cook Cooking Club series on July 14, 21, 28 and Aug. 4 and 11 from 5-7:30 p.m. at Lost Creek Reserve, 2385 East State Route 41, east of Troy.

Be part of a brand new pilot program. Kids ages 11-15 years will learn about local produce as they harvest, prepare and cook seasonal recipes using ingredients from the garden at Lost Creek Reserve. They will also experience the sense of community that comes from preparing and sharing meals together. Class maximum is 10. Pre-registration is required.
