Forest Hill Road to close June 13

CONCORD TOWNSHIP — The area of 1490 Forest Hill Road will be closed for two to three days beginning Monday, June 13. The road will be closed to replace a road culvert and catch basins.

MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County YMCA will be taking registrations for summer session classes beginning Monday, June 13, for members and Thursday, June 16, for nonmembers.

Classes will begin Monday, June 20, and last for seven weeks. This session includes many recreation and fitness options such as swim lessons, group exercise, gymnastics, youth sports and more.

Golf outing seeks participants

TIPP CITY — The Tipp City Chamber of Commerce has space for a limited number of registrations for their annual Business Classic Golf Scramble on Thursday, June, 16.

This event is a premier opportunity for community business leaders to network in a fun and casual environment.

The 18-hole golf outing will be located at Homestead Golf Course, 5327 Worley Road, Tipp City. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. sharp for each foursome. The cost is $90 per person, $360 per foursome and includes a full round of golf with a cart, golfer gifts, competitions and door prizes.

Each participant also receives a full box lunch provided by Sam & Ethel’s restaurant, and a marinated pork chop dinner prepared at the golf course immediately following the round.

Registrations are accepted until June 10 via the chamber website at No refunds after June 14.

The scramble style play allows for participation from all skill levels throughout the round.

Piqua Optimist 5K Run/Walk set

PIQUA — The Piqua Optimist Club’s 8th annual Bob Mikolajewski Memorial 5K Run & Walk will be held Saturday, July 16, at 8:30 a.m. at Piqua High School. Participants will meet in front of the commons area.

Runners and walkers should pre-register by mail postmarked before July 1 to ensure a race T-shirt. Online registration is also available through However, race day registration will also be available starting at 7:15 a.m.

The cost to participate in the event is $15, and prizes will be awarded to the overall and age category winners.

The Bob Mikolajewski Memorial 5K Run & Walk is a major fundraiser for the Piqua Optimist Club. This event is held to honor the memory of our longtime member, club treasurer, and friend, Bob Mikolajewski. The Piqua Optimist Club is a “Friend of Youth” in the Piqua community through its youth events, including Tri-Star sports, Youth Appreciation luncheon, the awarding of scholarships, and support of many other youth-related functions.
