DAR to meet
TROY — The Piqua-Lewis Boyer Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will meet Saturday, June 11, at the Troy YMCA located at 3060 S. County Road 25-A. The program starts at 10:30 a.m. and will be “Something Old, Something New: The Creation of the American Wedding – Colonial to the Present.”
Members and guests, please bring a wedding photo of yourself or ancestors with you to the meeting. Kimberly Magnuson, NSDAR museum docent will be the speaker. Installation of new officers to follow. The hostess committee is: Myrna Cantrell, Chair; Carol DeHart, Carol Hepler and Debbie Miller.
Car show set
PIQUA — The Fifth annual Car Show and Cruise In will be at Fountain Park, Piqua, on June 11.
The show, which is open to all cars, trucks and tractors, will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with awards at 3:30 p.m. Registration is $10 per vehicle. Proceeds will benefit Cameron’s Smile and the Bethany Center. The event also will include a DJ, food available, silent auction and 50/50 drawing.
History books available
PLEASANT HILL — The Pictorial History of Pleasant Hill book is available at the Pleasant Hill History Center. Books can be picked up Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon, and Mondays from 3-5 p.m. up until the Sesquicentennial Celebration on Saturday, June 25.

YMCA to host Splash week
PIQUA — The Piqua branch of the Miami County YMCA, 223 W. High St., will be hosting Splash week June 13-17. The program is free and is intended for beginning level swimmers only. It is a water safety program for children who have completed kindergarten through the fourth grade.
Children learn basic swimming skills along with basic rescue and water safety skills. The program will meet for five days during the week and there are two 45 minute sessions, one at 9 a.m. and one at 10 a.m. Registration is limited to the first 20 children who are enrolled for each time slot. To register, come to the Piqua YMCA in person, or you may call (937) 773-9622. Registration will close June 9.
Children who attend all five days during the week will be eligible for prize drawings.

Bookmobile to be at park
TROY — The Miami County Park District will host the Troy-Miami County Bookmobile “Games Around the World” from 2-3 p.m. June 15 at Hobart Urban Nature Preserve, 1400 Tyrone in Troy.
In addition to story time with the Bookmobile, enjoy an activity with a park district naturalist. Check out books for summer reading with a valid library card. All ages are welcome.

Band to perform
TROY — The summer fun continues in downtown Troy at 7:30 p.m. June 24 with the Southwest Ohio based band, This Side Up.
Troy Main Street will present a band that performs familiar hits from a vast library of music that spans decades of radio play. This Side Up’s set list spans several decades and reaches as far back as the 1950’s to contemporary popular music, and uses a unique blend of music from several different genres.
The band has grown into a dance-oriented party band, playing hits from pop, rock, R&B, country and oldies.
