Walk with the mayor

PIQUA — Join Mayor Kazy Hinds for a walk on the local part of the Buckeye Trail beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Lock 9 Park. The walk is in celebration of the American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day.

According to the AHS website, National Trails Day evolved during the late ’80s and early ’90s to celebrate America’s trail system — there are approximately 200,000 miles of trails in the country — and emphasize the importance of trails in the U.S. Events will take place in every state across the country, including hikes, biking and horseback rides, paddling trips, birdwatching, geocaching, gear demonstrations, stewardship projects and more.
