Four Seasons to hold sale

PIQUA — Pot People will be on sale May 6-7 at the Miami Centre Mall. The garden art pieces were made by members of the Four Seasons Garden Club and are part of the annual fundraiser. The sale will be located in the mall between J.C.Penney and Sears.

Other items include hanging baskets from Andy’s Garden Center, plants from Piqua Garden Place, and many garden creations such as garden chairs from members.

Funds received will be used for the gardens at Veterans Memorial Way, Ann Mira Das and the circle on Ash Street. For more information on the sale or becoming a garden club member, contact Sandy Knous-Wolf at (419) 953-5853.

Diabetes program planned

MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County YMCA is enrolling participants for an eight-week program on diabetes education, support and self-management. Each session will concentrate on various topics to help participants to establish good habits and learn how to manage their pre-diabetes or diabetes symptoms. The program is designed to bring awareness and education to the community about the risk factors related to diabetes and chronic illnesses associated with diabetes.

This program is free for those who qualify through referral. It includes educational seminars, free personal training and membership with the Miami County YMCA during the program and for 6 months after participants graduate. The class will be held on Tuesdays from noon to 1 p.m. at YMCA’s Robinson Branch in Troy beginning May 24. This program is possible through funding from the United Way.

Plant Swap, workshop set

BRADFORD — The Annual Plant Swap’s workshop at Bradford Public Library on Saturday, May 7, will feature Master Gardener Mary Groves on the topic of “Creating Your Own Fairy Garden.”

Groves, who became an Ohio State Miami Master Gardener in 2015 is from the Troy area. She enjoys working with flowers, and yes, even weeding relaxes her. She has had a fairy garden for around 10 years.

The Plant Swap is open from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with raffle tickets being sold for 50 cents or $2 for five. Some of the raffle prizes are currently on display at the library. The workshop will begin at 10:30 a.m. in Bradford Public Library’s Community Room. Someone will also be on hand to answer you gardening questions.

Do not forget that you can also bring or take home different types of seeds, cuttings, and a wide variety of different plants. The time for dropping off these plants will begin at 9:30 a.m. The library would like to have everyone’s offerings by 10 a.m.

YMCA offers baseball leagues

MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County YMCA is offering a Tee-ball league beginning June 14. This League is for 3 to 5-year-olds and will be held at the Robinson branch on Tuesday evenings. The program runs for eight weeks this summer with two weeks of practice and six weeks of games.

A coach pitch Tee-ball league will also be offered this year beginning June 15. This league is for 6 and 7-year-olds and will be held at the Robinson branch on Wednesday evenings. The program will run for eight weeks, with one first week of practice and seven weeks of games.

Early registration is under way and can be completed over the phone or at either YMCA Branch. A coaches’ meeting will take place at the Robinson branch at 7:15 p.m. May 31 for all parents signing up to coach.
