COVINGTON — Covington Christian Church is excited to welcome their new pastor, Scott Bates. The son of a pastor, Bates grew up in several communities, but mostly in the western Kansas area. After graduating high school in Kansas City, he moved to Bartlesville, Okla., where he attended college and met his wife, Mary, to whom he has been married for 17 years.
While in Bartlesville, Bates grew in his faith and ministry serving as a youth worker, deacon, Sunday school teacher, children’s minister, and in many other capacities within the church. Also during this time, he and Mary had their three children, Trinity, Malakai, and Josiah.
Bates received his calling into full-time ministry while serving in Nome, Alaska, as a youth minister. He filled in for the pastor he was serving and felt confident that this was the calling God has for his life.
He is excited to be in the pulpit serving his church and congregation. He also looks forward to discovering how to serve Covington and the surrounding communities.
Bates enjoys spending time outdoors, follows various sporting teams and events and loves to be around people. He and his wife are thrilled to be able to raise their children in Covington.
If you are looking for a church home, have questions or needs, you are welcome to visit Covington Christian Church, located at 115 N. Pearl St. Sunday morning church service begins at 9:30 a.m. Office hours are Monday-Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
