CASSTOWN — The Miami East Board of Education chose Brandon Fellers to serve as its president for 2016. Kevin Accurso was nominated and approved to serve as vice president.
New board members Mark Iiames and John Demmitt also took their first oath of office at the board meeting. Board member Mark Davis was not present at the meeting.
The board approved to meet at 7 p.m. on the third Monday of each month at the Miami East High School lecture hall. February’s meeting will be held on the third Tuesday due to the holiday.
The board also approved the following committee appointments for 2016: OSBA — Kevin Accurso; Miami Valley CTC — Mark Davis; Athletic Council — Brandon Fellers; Facilities — Mark Davis; Alumni Hall of Fame — John Demmitt; Miami East Foundation — Mark Iiames; and all members will serve on the audit committee.
The board approved the following cash donations: $341 from the Miami East Education Foundation to the Elementary Principal’s fund for a grant for the paired reading program; $1,020 from the Miami East Education Foundation to the Elementary Principal’s fund for a grant for Muse Machine; and $472 from the Miami East Education Foundation to the Junior High Principal’s fund for the AR book room project.
The board also approved Noelle Mumpower-Davis’ employment adjustment. The board also accepted Kathleen McCrillis’s letter of retirement effective at the conclusion of the 2015-2016 school year.
Miami East Local Schools Superintendent Dr. Todd Rappold also thanked the board members for their service during the School Board Recognition Month proclamation at the end of the meeting. Jodi Metzger, President of the Miami East Education Association, also provided refreshments at the meeting as part of their thank you to the board and their service.
