Cooper to run for sheriff

MIAMI COUNTY — Steven E. Cooper has announced his candidacy for Miami County Sheriff in the March primary.

Cooper, a Republican, retired as a captain with the Miami County Sheriff’s Office with 33 years of service.

He has filed his petition with the Miami County Board of Elections.

“I have been asked by many people to run for the office of sheriff because they believe I can bring honesty, stability and integrity back to this office,” Cooper said. “I am asking for your vote.”

Cooper, as of this time, will be running against current Miami County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Dave Duchak and retired Troy Police Department Captain Christopher Anderson. The two, along with any other prospective candidates, have until Dec. 16 to file for the March primary. All three will be running as Republican candidates in the March primary.

Cooper is seeking donations to fund his campaign, and they can be made to Cooper for Sheriff, Unity National Bank, 1176 W. Main St., Tipp City, OH 45371.
