Health fair offered to veterans, widows

TROY — Miami County Public Health will be hosting a Veterans Day Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday Nov. 13 for veterans and widows of veterans.

MCPH has partnered with Miami County Veteran’s Services, Valley Eye Institute, Upper Valley Career Center, and Miami County Dental Clinic to offer a variety of services. It will be held at the Hobart Center for County Government located at 510 W. Water St., Troy.

Veterans are encouraged to come to this fair to get questions answered about benefits that may be available to them and how to apply for benefits as well. MCPH will provide flu and pneumonia shots, blood pressure and hearing screens and diabetic foot checks. Valley Eye Institute will provide vision screens and Miami County Dental Clinic will provide dental screens. The Upper Valley Career Center’s Cosmetology program will provide finger and toenail trims.

There will also be food and refreshments provided during the lunch hour period.

“We are proud to offer this health fair to our veterans and plan on making it an annual event,” said Miami County Veterans Services Executive Director and Service Officer Jeffrey Stapleton. “Our motto here at Miami County Veterans’ Services is ‘Veterans Serving Veterans’ and that is exactly what this event is about.”
