Browning, 46, pronounced dead at scene

MIAMI COUNTY — The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate a multi-vehicle fatal traffic crash on State Route 41 and Washington Road in Concord Township on Thursday.

According to reports, at approximately 6:25 p.m., Andres Diaz, 41, of Riverside, Ohio, was traveling eastbound on State Route 41 in a 2010 white Ford Van, with three male occupants in the van. Michael Browning, 46, of Troy, was traveling westbound on State Route 41 in a blue Ford passenger vehicle.

Witnesses reported that Browning passed several vehicles on the right paved berm, lost control, crossed the center line, and was struck broadside by the van. The Ford was broken in half and Browning was totally ejected into a ditch line off the right edge. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The van came to final rest off the left edge.

Browning has been determined to be the at-fault driver in the incident. There were several independent witnesses at the scene.

Carlos Ambrosio, Bernardo Hernandez, and Ernesto Lopez were transported to Upper Valley Medical Center. Browning was pronounced as deceased at the scene and transported to the Montgomery County Morgue. The Ohio State Highway Patrol made next-of-kin notification to the parents of the deceased.

The Troy Police Department, Troy Fire Department and medic squads responded to the scene. Traffic control was provided by the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and Troy Police Department. A technical crash investigator from the Ohio State Highway Patrol also responded to the scene.

It is the ninth traffic fatality in Miami County this year. In 2016 and 2017, there were 12 reported traffic fatalities, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s website.
