‘Pride of Piqua’ in Midwest Ohio competition


MARIA STEIN – The “Pride of Piqua,” Piqua High School’s award-winning marching band, will be among the competitors in the 44th annual Midwest Ohio Marching Band Competition hosted by Marion Local High School on Oct. 20, at Marion Local’s Booster Field.

In addition to Piqua, bands scheduled to perform in the OMEA-adjudicated event include Maumee High School, Lincolnview High School, National Trail High School, Fort Recovery High School, Bethel High School, Covington High School, New Bremen High School, Versailles High School, Arcanum High School, Marion Harding High School, Greenville High School, Edgewood High School, Newton High School, Bellefontaine High School, Tippecanoe High School, Reynoldsburg High School and Olentangy Liberty High School.

New this year, overall awards will be given to the Class C and Class B bands, including grand champion of Class C and B with a second awards ceremony, including a second grand champion, for the Class A and AA bands.

Gates open at 3 p.m. with the first performance scheduled for 4 p.m. Concessions will be available.
