TROY — A free education series for caregivers of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia will be held this fall at Trinity Episcopal Church in Troy. The three-part series, titled “The Confident Caregiver,” is presented by the Miami Valley Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and is open to the public.
The program will provide information and resources for caregivers on understanding dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, communicating and managing challenging behaviors, and financial and legal planning, in addition to answering caregiver’s questions and concerns. The series will be presented in three sessions:
• Understanding Alzheimer’s & Dementia — Sept. 17 from 6-7 p.m.
• Communication & Behaviors — Sept. 24 from 6-7:30 p.m.
• Legal & Financial Planning — Oct. 1 from 6-7 p.m.
Rebecca Hall, director of Care and Support at the Alzheimer’s Association Miami Valley Chapter, will lead the series.
“A diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease or dementia can be overwhelming,” Hall said. “The Alzheimer’s Association provides The Confident Caregiver education series so that family members and others caring for someone with dementia have access to information and resources that can help them plan for what is to come through the course of the disease. We want to be here to educate and support families facing dementia.”
Educational information and resource materials from the Miami Valley Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will be available for attendees.
