MIAMI COUNTY — A Troy man who went missing for more than 24 hours has been charged with misdemeanor public indecency by Troy Police Department.
Alan Dunavent, 65, was reported as a missing endangered adult who is medication-dependent by Troy Police on Aug. 7. He was last seen at 1:10 a.m. Aug. 6, in a Rural King parking lot in Huber Heights, where his work truck was located. Dunavent contacted a relative at 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 8 from a homeless shelter in Dayton and returned home.
According to Troy Police records, a 27 year-old Troy resident observed Dunavent naked in the park around 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 5. The reporting party stated he observed Dunavent completely naked sitting on a bench in a shelter house allegedly masturbating. The reporting party took a picture of Dunavent, which was turned over to police. The reporting party said Dunavent then left the park at a high rate of speed in his work truck. An officer at the scene also noted there were families and young children in the park at the time of the incident.
Dunavent claimed he had he slept outside for two nights and may have walked from Huber Heights to the shelter near Patterson and Perry streets in downtown Dayton. He allegedly told Troy detective that he had no recollection of the incident at Duke Park on Aug. 5.
Dunavent also admitted to being charged and placed on probation in a similar incident in an subdivision in Fairborn 25 years ago.
He will be arraigned on the charge in Miami County Municipal Court on Aug. 21.
