PIQUA — Piqua police charged two males after an alleged assault led to a parked car being struck on Monday, Oct. 5.
Shortly after 6 a.m. on Monday, officers responded to the 800 block of Park Avenue to a report of a disturbance. According to Piqua police reports, Jarod J. Buechter, 35, of Piqua, and Larry E. Taylor, Jr., 37, of Piqua, were reportedly involved in a physical altercation when the car they were in hit another vehicle.
Buechter was allegedly driving the vehicle. The owner of the car that had been struck stated that Buechter had apologized for hitting the parked car before driving away from the scene. Taylor also left the scene on foot.
The owner of the car that had been struck advised that there was no damage and did not want to make a report concerning the vehicle.
One officer reportedly stopped Buechter on the 2000 block of Park Avenue, who claimed that Taylor had assaulted him. According to Piqua police reports, Buechter had “visible injuries consistent with being punched in the nose and right side of his face.”
A witness also reportedly confirmed seeing Taylor punching Buechter. The witness also did not see Buechter physically attack Taylor.
Taylor denied hitting Buechter, but did admit to being involved in a physical altercation with him.
Taylor was charged with first-degree misdemeanor assault in connection with this incident.
Buechter was also charged with first-degree misdemeanor failure to comply, first-degree misdemeanor OVI, fourth-degree misdemeanor drug paraphernalia, and first-degree misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon in connection with this incident.
Drug paraphernalia was reportedly seen in plain view in Buechter’s car. A knife was also seized that had been reportedly concealed on Buechter’s person.
Buechter is currently being held at the Miami County Jail on $3,500 bond.
