PIQUA — Piqua police apprehended a Piqua man on Monday evening after he reportedly robbed Burger King.

Steven A. Bixler, 34, of Piqua, was charged with second-degree felony robbery on Monday night and arraigned on that charge in Miami County Municipal Court on Tuesday.

The robbery at Burger King, located at 1408 Covington Ave., was reported Monday night at approximately 11 p.m. Bixler was dressed similarly to the person who committed the last robbery that took place at Burger King on April 16, according to Deputy Chief Jason Preston of the Piqua Police Department.

Bixler reportedly walked into the business, demanded money from an employee, and grabbed cash out of the cash register. He ran out of the business, and another Burger King employee chased after him.

Bixler did not show a weapon during the robbery, but Preston said that Bixler did threaten the employee who chased him with a knife.

A Piqua police officer was already in the area and saw the Burger King employee chasing Bixler. The officer followed Bixler, and other officers later located him at an apartment complex north of the area.

Bixler is currently incarcerated in the Miami County Jail on $25,000 bond.

Bixler is being considered as a suspect for similar robberies in the area, such as the earlier Burger King robbery or the Kroger robbery last week, but he has not been charged in connection with those robberies.
