Moore pleads no contest to aggravated murder

MIAMI COUNTY — Markell T. Moore, 21, of Dayton, entered a plea of no contest on one count of first-degree felony attempted murder in Miami County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday.

Moore is accused of shooting Troy resident Treshon Whitson, 19, in the neck at Fountain Park in Piqua on Aug. 5 at 1:38 a.m. According the Piqua Police Department, the motive for the shooting is believed to be an argument over a female.

Moore entered the no contest plea with Judge Jeannine Pratt presiding. Moore could serve three to 11 years in prison and up to $20,000 fine. Judge Pratt set Moore’s sentencing date for Nov. 19 with Miami County Common Pleas Court Judge Christopher Gee.

Moore remains in Miami County Jail with a $100,000 bond.
