PIQUA — Tickets are still available for “An Evening with the Mills Brothers,” featuring John Mills, son of original group member Donald Mills, and Elmer Hopper of Platters fame, at 7:30 p.m. April 19, at the Fort Piqua Plaza Banquet Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Presented by the Johnston Farm & Indian Agency and the Piqua Area Chamber of Commerce, the show will feature many of the songs made famous by Piqua’s very own Mills Brothers.
John Mills performed with his father since 1982, and now brings to the stage the newest generation of The Mills Brothers, who were honored in 1998 with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Grammys. Elmer Hopper brings to the duo more than two decades of experience with the renowned Platters.
Among the numbers the twosome presents are “Tiger Rag,” “Cab Driver,” “Glow Worm,” “Lazy River,” “Yellow Bird,” “Basin Street Blues,” “Opus One,” “Paper Doll,” and numerous others.
Tickets for “An Evening with the Mills Brothers” can be purchased in Piqua at Apple Tree Gallery, the Piqua Area Chamber of Commerce, Readmore’s Hallmark, and David Fair on the Square in Troy during regular business hours (cash or check only); or by credit card by calling the Johnston Farm at 773-2522.
Tickets are $30 each, or $25.00 for Johnston Farm Friends Members and members of the Ohio History Connection. To ensure a spot for this limited-seating, purchase tickets by April 9, or until they are sold out.
