NTHS members inducted at UVCC

PIQUA — The Upper Valley Career Center inducted 60 new members into the National Technical Honor Society on Monday, Nov 6. Jason Haak, executive director, and Matt Meyer, Student Services director, visited each of the five Career and Technical student organizations to announce the honors and conduct the induction ceremony. A reception honoring the NTHS students was held immediately following the induction ceremonies. Representatives from each of the associate high schools were invited to attend the reception to congratulate their students.

National Technical Honor Society honors student achievement and leadership, promotes educational excellence, and enhances career opportunities for technical students. The organization has 3,000 member schools and colleges. Haak told new inductees that Upper Valley has been an NTHS member since 1992.

The criteria for NTHS requires career-tech students to maintain 98 percent or better attendance and have a 3.5 or better GPA their junior year at the Upper Valley Career Center. Each inductee was recommended by their career-technical instructor based on citizenship and character. Students who join the honor society are asked to continue demonstrating academic achievement, skills development, leadership, honesty, responsibility, and good character.
