Oct. 6

BAR GONE: A deputy was dispatched to the 7900 block of State Route 202, Bethel Twp. on a report of a theft of a bar.

CHILD ABUSE: A Miami County Sheriff’s Office detective is investigating a child abuse complaint regarding a three-week old child. The child was admitted for a fractured skull in Dayton Children’s hospital. Case pending.

ACCIDENT: A deputy responded to a vehicle accident with injury in the area of Swailes Road and Creekwood in Concord Township. A male motorcycle driver lost control of the motorcycle and struck a telephone pole. The driver of the motorcycle was transported by Troy EMS to Miami Valley Hospital for injuries to the head and face. The driver was later issued a citation for failure to control.

Oct. 7

ACCIDENT: A deputy responded to an injury accident at the intersection of South State Route 202 and U.S. Route 40 in Bethel Township. After several witness statements and video footage, it was determined a vehicle heading South on 202 ran a red light and struck a vehicle heading East on U.S Route 40. The drivers of both vehicles and one passenger were transported to Miami Valley Hospital for minor injuries. The at-fault driver was cited for traffic control signal lights.

OVI: A deputy was dispatched to a two vehicle accident at the listed address. The driver of unit one was arrested for OVI and issued a citation for OVI, possession of drug paraphernalia, and passing within an intersection at N. Spiker Road and Washington Twp.

Oct. 8

DEAD BODY: A deputy responded with Union Township EMS to the 100 block of N. Main Street, Laura, on the report of a 10-week old baby not breathing. The child was found to be deceased and the coroner was contacted.

AGENCY ASSIST: A deputy was dispatched to a vehicle fire on S. Rangeline Road, Union Twp. Upon arrival, Laura Fire Department had already extinguished the fire. The driver of the vehicle was identified and was free of injury. The driver stated that he was headed home when the vehicle began smoking. He exited the vehicle and the vehicle began to catch on fire. The vehicle was fully engulfed prior to the fire departments arrival. The vehicle was towed from the scene by Saunders.

Oct. 9

THEFT: A deputy responded to the 400 block of Ginghamsburg Road, at a business for a theft complaint. Ammunition was stolen from the location.

RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE: Deputies were driving west on Main Street in Troy. They noticed a car that matched the description of a car that had been listed in a previous “be on the look out” for. The car, with Michigan registration, ran through LEADS and identified as a stolen car out of Covington. Dispatch confirmed that it was stolen. Covington PD was advised, and they dispatched Saunders Towing to tow the car from the scene. The vehicle was then towed to Saunder’s impound lot per Covington PD’s request.

Oct. 10

DAMAGE: A subject was driving heading southbound on Casstown Sidney Road. The subject was hauling a Peerless boomloader at the time. As he passed 1620 Casstown Sidney Road, the boomloader struck a tree branch causing damage to the boomloader and the tree branch. Everyone was given a case number and told to report to their insurance company. Case is closed.
