PIQUA — There were 11 entries in the annual Piqua Community Farmers Market salsa contest on Thursday. In the mild category, the winner was Sonia Haines, second place went to Laura Burns, and third place was Alta Marrs.

In the Hot category, the winner was Laura Burns, second place was Josh Marrs and third place was Don Wenrick. The most unusual category had the most entries; the winner was Sonia Haines, second place went to Leanne Burns, and third place was Pam Weldy. The winners received cash prizes and gift certificates from Readmore’s Hallmark.

The next contest at the Piqua Community Farmers Market will be the Apple Pie Baking contest on Thursday, Sept. 7. Details on the apple pie contest can be found in the special events tab of the Piqua Community Farmers Market website at www.piquafarmersmarket.com.
