PIQUA — Want to know the latest in bridal trends and fashion, and where to go for your wedding needs locally? The 2015 Weddings of Distinction Bridal Show at the Fort Piqua Plaza is only days away, your one stop for all the bridal shops.

Now in its 10th year, the show takes place on Sunday, Aug. 30, from noon until 4 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Piqua Daily Call, Troy Daily News, and Sidney Daily News.

At the show, there will be local vendors showcasing the services they provide to all who attend, with caterers, florists, DJs, bakers, makeup specialists, hair and tanning services, and wedding venues.

Vendors that will have booths at the show are: La Quinta Inn, Comfort Inn, Journey Salon, Shear Creations, LA Tan, Brittney’s Cakes, Mary Kay, Party Planners, Genell’s, Absolute Audio DJ Services, City of Piqua/ Fort Piqua Plaza, Lee’s Famous Recipe, Fairfield Inn, AAA, Barclay’s, Crystal Room, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, Intricate Designs, and Mrs. B’s Catering.

“All these vendors are local, so you don’t have to travel to find everything for your wedding day,” said Amy Dillow, curator of the event.

Guests can taste-test food from local bakeries and catering businesses during the show as well.

There will also be a fashion show during the bridal show, from 1-2:15 p.m. The show will highlight brides of all ages, and men will be modeling tuxedos. Women will model bridal gowns, glamor gowns, and cocktail dresses in small to large sizes.

The fashion show is hosted by Angel Ash, owner of Angels Mark in Troy. Ash said it is the first year that her business is curating the show.

“I hope that (guests) like what we have, and recognize that there is someone in the area that they can go to … they have someone right here at home. (They) should have no need to go anywhere else,” Ash said.

Cindy Penrod, banquet coordinator at the Fort Piqua Plaza stated why she thinks the historical building is a great place to host the event.

“It’s just a wonderful place, it’s an older building that has been redone and just looks very pretty,” she said.

There will be over 20 door prizes that will be given away throughout the day, including a free night stay at the Fairfield Inn, located in Troy. The cost is $5 to attend and children ages 12 and under are free of charge.
