MIAMI COUNTY — At their meeting Thursday, the Miami County Commissioners approved the purchase and installation of new signage at the county’s animal shelter.
The animal shelter will be getting a new building sign and a free-standing road sign thanks to donations from the community.
The board approved a quote for an aluminum composite sign with vinyl graphics from the Kessler Sign Company of Dayton at a cost of $7,750.
The shelter sought several quotes and did receive several lower quotes for painted aluminum and wooden signs. It was determined that, since they would have to be repainted occasionally, that the vinyl graphics were preferred.
“I think if we’re going to spend the money for the sign, let’s pick the one that’s going to last a long time, because it’s going to be out in the weather,” animal shelter director Marcia Doncaster said.
In other business, the board approved a service agreement with BI Inc. of Boulder, Colo., and the Miami County Juvenile Court for equipment, software, and system maintenance for the court’s electronic monitoring program. The cost is not to exceed $49,000 for a period of two years.
