PIQUA — One person is in the Miami County Jail following the service of a drug search warrant.
Xavier Roberts, 24, of 514 Orr Street was taken into custody after members of the Piqua/Sidney Combined Tactical Response Team served the search warrant at 6:20 a.m. at Robert’s residence.
“The warrant was generated base on several factors,” said Deputy Piqua Police Chief Marty Grove, “including community input on this residence being used to traffic drugs.”
Grove said that a total of three people were inside the residence at the time. “Two were ultimately released with no charges,” said Groves, “Xavier Roberts, age 24, was arrested and incarcerated on a drug trafficking charge and possession of cocaine.” Both of the charges are felonies of the third-degree.
In addition to the TRT members and detectives from both Piqua and Sidney police departments, the Miami County Animal Shelter was on hand due to the reported presence of two dogs, believe to be Pit Bulls. Grove said that the dogs were friendly but were removed from the residence to insure they are properly cared for.
Groves said that the investigation is ongoing and that additional charges in the case are possible.
